Where are the reindeer?
For reindeer herders in northern Scandinavia, Followit Track is a time-saving, cost-effective way to follow the movements of a herd across terrain. Positioning data from a GPS unit on a single reindeer in the herd is transmitted continuously to the Followit Geo web portal. There, you can follow, every four hours, the movements of the herd, for example as it searches for pastures. Herders don’t have to travel around at random looking for their animals – or hire a helicopter at great expense to survey large areas. In addition, roads and railway tracks can be marked with a boundary “fences,” so the system can send a warning if the herd comes too close.
